Hey y’all! It’s been a while since I published a blog post! I thought that this post would be helpful for those of you who enjoy practical layering pieces that you can wear all season long. I own many of these pieces myself, and one of my favorite parts of shopping from Old Navy and Gap is the fact that they carry such a wide variety when it comes to sizing. Not only do all of their pieces come in XS to XXL, but many of them also have the option of petite, regular, or tall. This is so nice when it comes to sweaters and layering pieces to get that custom-tailored look. I ordered all of my items in a size XS regular, except for the denim jacket below (I ordered a small in this for a more oversized fit.) Many different outfit combinations can be made with just a few layering pieces. I hope you enjoy looking through the items I pulled. They are picky-girl approved. 🙂
I will be writing a separate blog post for different kinds of jackets soon, so stay tuned for that!
We are at the beach for the week, so I thought it would be a good time to share all of the Summer items I’ve purchased this year with the beach being on my mind 24/7. A lot of them are great prices, and all of them are excellent quality! Stay tuned for more beach content this week. I’ll be styling these items and posting more outfits on my Instagram page + linking them in the LikeToKnow.it app. Feel free to follow along over there if you aren’t already. Linking my LTK profile here.
Denim Shorts: I did NOT want to love these shorts as much as I do because of the price tag. They are the most expensive item on this list, as well as the most expensive denim shorts I’ve ever purchased. What I love about them, is how flattering the fit is. They don’t hug your thighs or butt too tight at all, which is what I prefer. Most reviews say that these “run big,” however, I ordered my normal size and they are perfect. They are high wasted, so shirts tuck in nicely, and they also look really great with crop tops or swim suits. I know I will continue to wear these into the Fall with booties and cardigans, so they are a great investment.
Straw Hat: Another item that I have had my eye on for a solid two years, but continued to buy target hats instead (those are totally great as well, don’t get me wrong!). However, this hat is amazing quality and you can order your correct size for a more custom fit (not a one size fits all). For someone who loves straw hats as much as I do, this one is the top on my list. And, I have a lot of straw hats y’all!
Pink Bikini Set: Both the top and the bottom I linked are the same exact pink color, although they do not look like it online! I just want to note that I have never been disappointed with the quality of swimwear that Nordstrom has to offer. I’m the type that doesn’t want to spend an arm and a leg on a swimsuit, but I am also crazy picky about the fit and quality. I could write a whole blog post on swimsuits alone with how many swimsuits I’ve ordered and sent back this year, let me tell ya. I am done with trying to “get a deal” on the “fast-fashion” sites for swimsuits. This brand has my stamp of approval for sure.
Snakeprint Bottoms: Some of you may think I’m crazy for this, but these bottoms were too loose on my hips when they came in, so I actually took them to the tailor because I loved the shape, coverage, texture, etc that much! I wanted to make them work. These are amazing quality and thank the lord for some cute bottoms with actual booty coverage lol. They come in plain black and pink as well. I ordered a small (my normal size in swimwear), and they definitely run big.
Makeup Organizer: I can’t believe I have just thrown all my makeup and brushes in a bag whenever I traveled before ordering this this year. Game changer for sure. There’s plenty of room for your compacts, palettes, and brushes.
Linen Boyfriend Shirt: This shirt ended up being exactly what I had in mind when I ordered it. I love the look of a linen shirt at the beach. So classic and timeless. This one is a great price too!
Beach Wrap: Y’all need this easy beach wrap from Amazon! I love the pom poms and it comes in multiple colors.
Daily SPF: This layers perfectly under makeup or by itself. This formula is actually for oily skin, so I just make sure I moisturize with another moisturizer beforehand, and I’m good! I love that it is a mineral sunscreen that isn’t greasy and doesn’t break me out. I’m going to order the glowy one next, and I’ll let y’all know how I like that one!
Hair Mask: This hair mask is so hydrating. I use a hair mask every time I wash my hair in place of regular conditioner, so I often try out new ones. I love this one ( I have dry/thick hair). It smells amazing and makes my hair so so soft.
I also never go to the beach without packing this scrub. It helps to really take off all of the sunscreen at the end of the day. It is also really great at scrubbing away leftover spray tan! Smells so good too.
My two favorite sunscreens for the body linked here and here.
I am still a total fan of the Billie Razor too! It is all I use (I used to be addicted to a much more expensive razor). I love that I don’t have to think about it, and I get razors sent to me every two months for only $9! You can customize how often you want new razor heads sent. I simply use Dove body wash to shave with, and it works perfectly.
This post is *not* sponsored. All items linked are products that I have purchased with my own money and I genuinely use. 🙂 I hope that this post was helpful for those of you who have been on the search for some of these staples! Let me know something that you have purchased this year for Summer that you love. I’d love to hear from ya!
For years, I was so against electric toothbrushes. I doubted their ability to clean my teeth that much more than a manual toothbrush and honestly found them annoying to use, heavy, and noisy. However, electric toothbrushes have come such a longggg way from what they used to be. There are so many different kinds to choose from on the market, and it can be a little overwhelming. I am so thorough when it comes to taking care of my teeth (floss, mouthwash, brush, and wear my retainer every night!), so I began to question if I could make my routine better.
For those of you who have been reading my posts for a while, I partnered with Smile Brilliant to test our their teeth whitening system back in November, and absolutely loved my results. I’ll link that post here. So, when they reached back out to me back in February asking what kind of toothbrush I currently used, I was slightly embarrassed to tell them I use a manual toothbrush. They asked me if I wanted to try out their CariPro electric toothbrush, and my response was of course! Right, why not??
I have been using it now every single day for the past 4 months, and my teeth and gums are noticeably cleaner and healthier. I hate to say the typical line, “just got back from the dentist clean,” but that is honestly how my teeth feel whenever I brush with this toothbrush! If you have permanent retainers on the back of your teeth from having braces, this is a game changer for sure. It cleans those hard to clean areas so much better than my manual toothbrush could have ever done. I also love that there are multiple modes on the toothbrush including a sensitive option, which is the one I use most of the time for my sensitive teeth. I have completely changed my opinion on electric toothbrushes, and I don’t think I could go back to a manual, not even for a weekend getaway to the beach. (You know you love something, when it goes in your travel bag too.) 😉
I am so excited to be partnering with Smile Brilliant again for a giveaway. One of you will receive a CariPro toothbrush, charger, and an extra toothbrush head ($120) value. All you have to do is click the giveaway link below and enter in your email. I also have a discount code that you can use on anything on Smile Brillant’s website. Use code OLIVIACCGREEN20 for 20% off your entire order. Like I said earlier, I use their teeth whitening as well, and LOVE it!
Something I buy year after year when Spring comes around is crisp, white basics. There’s just something about classic white pieces. They are versatile, and can make your whole outfit look more fresh and put together. That’s why I recommend buying new white pieces each year and replacing some of your older ones that maybe have seen better days. It can really elevate your outfits and make your other pieces pop too. Old skirt? Add a fresh white crop top to it. Your fav pair of jeans? Add a new white t shirt and some jewelry. Cute sundress? Add some white sneakers! Or, if you’re feeling the monochromatic trend, opt for an all white outfit. Super easy!
Here are some of my favorite white pieces + items that I have had my eye on / in my shopping cart. ☺️
I hope that y’all found this post helpful! Let me know if you would like to see a post on dressier white dresses! Not sure how many 2020 brides I have out there, but that would be a fun post as well. Cheers to the weekend, ladies. 💕
Hey there, friend! I have seen a few posts about self-care recently, and I wanted to write a little post on my idea of self-care at the moment. Here are some things that I have been doing during this quarantine that helps to clear my mind and maintain my physical health:
Enjoy a glass of wine! (with no guilt) I wanted to talk to you all about FitVitne. If you have been following along for a while now, you know I am a raving fan of this wine. They have significantly less sugar in their wines in comparison to others, which allows them to fit into your healthy lifestyle. I have tried almost all of their wines, and they taste so clean because they go through a special filtering process. They are vegan and gluten free! My favorites for Spring and Summer are the Rosé, Sauvignon Blanc, Proseccó, and the Pinot Noir! They are all so full of flavor and light-tasting at the same time. I also really love the Cabernet during the colder months. (Already thinking about a glass of wine on the porch as I write this.) You can find FitVine in several local stores around the area, but I’m going to link their website here. They are offering 10% off first time customers and free shipping on a case of wine! No need to leave your house. 🙂
Treat your hair to a hair mask: I’m linking my favorite hair mask at the moment here (for some reason I can only find travel size) and the oil that I add in for a little extra boost here. I’ll link another full size mask option that I buy quite often here as well. I let this mixture sit in my hair for a least 10 minutes before rinsing it out. I usually use that time to shave or exfoliate, sit, and relax.
Whiten your teeth: This may seem silly, but I found that doing simple things like this has boosted my mood at home. I pulled out my whitening kit from Smile Brilliant just the other day and knocked out a whitening session. With all the time we have at home right now, why not come out of this quarantine with whiter teeth? (also not sponsored, I love their products! I use their electric toothbrush as well–more on that later.) You can use code oliviaccgreen20 on their website for 20% off. Linking my original teeth whitening post here with Smile Brilliant and their website here.
Bake something yummy! Linking my healthy banana bread recipe here, and my flourless almond butter cookies here. They are still recipes I make allll the time and they are cleaner ingredients that you don’t have to feel bad about (NO white sugar or butter in either recipe!) I’m waiting on some bananas to ripen right now so I can make banana bread!
Read a book or download and Audible! Linking my current read right here, and the next up on my list right here. I love books that keep my mindset in a positive place!
Take a walk around your neighborhood, or try an at home workout! Enjoy the Spring blooms and fresh air. I hope you all have a wonderful Easter weekend! Praying for everyone’s health and happiness during this time. 🙂 Talk to you later.
Y’all… I found them. The most flattering and on-trend “Mom” jeans for this Spring and Summer. (and they are currently 25% off!) I have been so skeptical of this trend because I didn’t want to wear “baggy” jeans. Skinny jeans have always been my go to. However, these are fitted in the right places and just a little bit more roomy in the hip and thigh. The best news: they come in regular, petite, and tall lengths + they have a curvy option that allows even more room if ya have a booty 😉.
The FIT: I’m wearing a 25 regular length in both the light wash and white classic mom jeans here, which is my normal size. (I am 5″6). They are true to size in my opinion. I love that they still flatter your shape without being super skinny. I would describe the fit as a relaxed skinny jean. They have a vintage stretch to them, which means they do not feel like leggings lol. So, if you are into suppperrr stretchy jeans, these aren’t it! They are 99% cotton and 1% elastane.
I still find them to be quite comfortable, and I can’t wait to style them with my Spring/Summer tops and sandals! I am linking the exact pair I’m wearing in these pictures below as well as some of the other combinations that I love.
I know many of us are working from home for the foreseeable future, so I thought I would write a quick blog post on some essentials that really make my work from home experience better! These are all items that I have loved and used for a long time.
Weighted Blanket: Jordan got me this blanket for Christmas, and I have been in love with it. If you stress out easily or are simply always cold, this throw blanket is so great! It gives you the perfect amount of pressure and eases anxiety. Perfect to throw over your lap while you work from home.
Blue Light Glasses: I know that most of us stare at screens for a significant chunk of the day. Jordan and I have really been loving these blue light glasses for work, scrolling our cellphones, and playing video games. They come in a pack of two, so you can share with your significant other. ☺️
C-Shaped Computer Table: This is something that I have been using for years now, actually using it as I type out this blog post–a total game changer. (Linking a similar version of the one I have had for years). It allows you to use your computer comfortably while sitting on the couch, recliner, or wherever! Also, it’s a pretty cute addition to your living room. Jordan and I are constantly moving this around the house. It can scoot right out of the way because of the way it is shaped. Linking it here.
The Best Coffee on Amazon Prime: Coffee is of course necessary during the work day, and in order to keep social distancing in effect, you should be avoiding coffee shops at the moment! We have probably ordered 10 bags of this coffee over the past year–We are hooked. Linking the whole bean option (the one we buy for our espresso machine) and the ground coffee option.
“The One Thing” by Gary Keller:A book beneficial for your mindset in your personal and business life! I’m reading it this week as a reminder of what is most important to me in my personal and business goals. There is also and audiobook option, and a podcast series.
BONUS: Since most of us are staying around the house, I thought I’d also share an app that I really have been loving that has several different brain training activities that you can personalize to your own liking. There are several different subjects for sharpening writing, reading, speaking, and math skills. It’s educational and a great distraction from all of the chaos going on right now. I’ll link it here in case you are interested in checking it out. (Not sponsored.) I discovered this app on my own. 🙂
Let me know below what is helping you get through this ongoing work from home quarantine! I would love to hear from y’all!
Chances are, if you are on instagram and follow any influencers, you have heard of Tula. Tula is a skincare brand that offers cleaner ingredients, and raved about by hundreds and hundreds of influencers it seems. So, naturally, I was curious enough to pick up some Tula products myself to test out! A couple months ago, with my 20% off coupon at Ulta, I decided to try out 3 of the most talked about products. I of course wanted to share with you all what I thought of the products I picked up, so let’s go ahead and chat about them! (This post is not sponsored in any way, Tula has no clue who I am lol.)
I’ll start with the So Polished Face Scrub. I immediately loved this product. I use it about twice a week. It is a gentle scrub that slowly dissolves as you rub it in. It is abrasive enough to remove dead skin, but not too harsh that it feels like it’s scratching your face. It contains sugar, papaya, and pineapple, so it smells AMAZING. My skin feels incredibly soft afterwards, and not dried out. I would definitely repurchase this product! It has taken the place of my old face scrub already.
The next product is an interesting one: The Face Filter Primer. This primer is packed with really great ingredients like turmeric and probiotics, and releases warm-toned glow particles as you blend it in to your skin. I really loved the idea of this product, because I personally love a more radiant blurred finish. However, these glow particles in this product really are pretty pigmented, and I find that wearing this under my foundation makes my makeup look a bit uneven. Perhaps this is because I’m more fair-skinned that this product appears blotchy under makeup. I did also try this face filter out without wearing foundation on top for a “no makeup” look, and I do think it looked better that way. I just don’t think it looked good enough to replace other bb creams that I use for that kind of look. I hope Tula comes out with a more translucent version of this primer, because I love the blurring and radiance, just not so much the color. Unfortunately, I’ll be taking this one back!
Okay, now onto possibly Tula’s most famous product right now: The Rose Glow Eye Balm. They talk about this product selling out all the time. It’s another unique product that doesn’t really compare to any other products out there right now. It is a rose-tinted hydrating and cooling eye balm packed with wonderful ingredients just like the rest of their products. You are supposed to be able to apply this under or over makeup for a pick me up. My initial thoughts about this product was it is pretty radiant and it does have a cooling sensation right away! I’ve worn this with and without makeup, and here are my thoughts: I have really dry skin, and usually apply eye cream day and night (prior to going to bed, and prior to putting on makeup.). So, I thought that this might replace eye cream during the day with all of it’s wonderful claims. However, it simply does not moisturize enough on its own for my skin needs. I also find that the cooling sensation and the radiance does wear off throughout the day. Probably not a product I would repurchase for the price. Instead, if you are looking for some extra radiance and some added brightening under the eyes, try Tarte’s Maracuja C-Brighter Eye Treatment. I love to put this on before makeup!
I hope that this helped those of you who are curious about Tula! I searched high and low for non-sponsored reviews before trying all of these products myself, and I realized that I needed to write my own! If this review was helpful to you, I would so appreciate you subscribing to my blog. I love to review beauty products and share about fashion and lifestyle items as well! As always, thanks so much for reading.
If you’re like me, this weather in NC right now has you dreaming about a Spring vacay and a littleeee bit of color in your wardrobe. Last week on my Instagram post, a ton of you told me you were going on trips this Spring! I know I’ve had a trip to Charleston or Nashville on my mind when the weather warms up. Of course, planning for any sort of trip, it’s always fun to add a little something to your closet. 🙂 I have put together 10 different jumpsuits suitable for vacay or simply as transition pieces for the warmer weather ahead. 🌴☀️ Just add a denim jacket for now, and you’re all set. Just click any jumpsuit below to instantly shop. I hope everyone is having a great week so far!
Hi everyone, and thank you for tuning into my blog post today–My first post of 2020! That is so crazy to think about. Something I really focused on last year was paying more attention to the ingredients of all of my beauty products. There are so many clean beauty brands coming out, and I believe it has made all of us more conscious of our choices when we shop! These are some that I have added to my routine in the past few months and love them enough to share with all of you. As always, I’ll link all the products I talk about within the post. If you click on the BOLD names of the products, it will take you straight to the exact product. You can also shop by clicking the photos at the bottom of my post. Alright, let’s talk clean beauty.
MegaBabe Rosy Pits: I’ll start with this product because honestly, this was initially the inspiration for this entire post. (not sponsored) It’s amazing. I have been trying to switch over to a natural deodorant for monthssss. (I originally started off trying the Native Deodorant: Every blogger and their mother was talking about it, so I thought it mustttt be good. Well, I first tried the coconut vanilla scent for a while. Then, the Jasmine. Both gave me rashes and made my underarms dark!! not cute.) So, I started to do a little research, and I found out that although Native Deodorant is a “natural” deodorant, it still contains baking soda. Baking soda can be an irritant to skin if you are sensitive, and does not mix well with sweat! Who knew. Anyway, I decided to try out MegaBabe Rosy Pits after more research. This stuff is SO good. I don’t even like rosy smells either. To me, this smells like clean sandalwood mixed with a hint of rose. And it is soothing, which was wonderful after breaking out from the other deodorant. I highly recommend this scent over their citrus scent.
Burts Bee’s Face Wash: I was bummed when I couldn’t find my regular every day face wash at target or any grocery stores, and I decided to pick this one up to try. I love Burt’s Bee’s as a brand, and this one of course is much more natural than what I was using before. It also removes all my makeup without drying out my skin, which is super important to me. I have very dry skin in the winter and this gentle foam works great. I will definitely repurchase!
Tula Face Scrub: So, I tried this product along with another Tula product recently, and this one is a winner! I was super skeptical of Tula (everyone on Instagram ravessss about Tula), so I wanted to test out some recommendations myself with my 20% off coupon at Ulta. This scrub is gentle, but not too gentle to the point that it doesn’t remove dead skin and build up. It smells wonderful like pineapples, and my skin actually feels hydrated after. I only use this about twice a week because I don’t love to over exfoliate my face.
Baebody Eye Gel:This was a random Amazon find that has over 15,000 reviews! It is an eye gel that has peptides and other wonderful ingredients to decrease the look of dark circles, puffiness, etc. I have actually noticed a difference with this product! I use it at night, and I apply an eye cream on top for extra moisture (again, I have very dry skin). You get a ton of product in this container for the price too!
Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery: This brand is not actually considered to be a “clean beauty” brand. However, this overnight treatment is made of wonderful clean ingredients for your skin. (It has a great rating on the Think Dirty App. More info on this at the bottom of my post.). It is a face oil with a dropper applicator. I drop about three drops directly onto my face after cleansing and pat it in with my fingers. I apply my moisturizer after to seal it all in.
Bite Beauty Agave Lip Treatment: I purchased this product during the last Sephora sale because I was trying to get my total purchase price higher in order to receive free shipping! I’m so glad I did. This stuff is amazing! I haven’t dealt with chapped lips at all this winter, and I really think it’s because of this product! It is superrr thick lip balm and a little goes a long way. I apply it at night, and it has completely replaced my Vaseline lip treatment that I used to use.
Baobab Oil: This is a pure oil in a pump bottle that I add into my hair mask! I add about 4-5 drops in with it and work it into the bottom half of my hair. It has really helped with the damage from highlighting my hair and dryness from the winter air! The only downside to this oil is that it comes in a glass bottle, so be careful if keeping it in your shower! This brand also has other pure oils in this line. I also love the Argan oil! I even put the Argan oil on Joise’s coat for moisture and shine. 🙂
SHOP THE POST:
***Honorable mention: Trader Joes Miceller Face Wipes!! ***Next time you are in TJ’s, be sure to pick up these face wipes and try them yourself! I am super picky about face wipes, and I have tried a ton of different brands. These are great! I find a lot of times with face wipes that they are dry and don’t do anything other than tug at my skin. These are perfectly wet, and remove all of my makeup before I go in with my cleanser. LOVE!
I also want to talk about the app I have been using for the past couple years to see how “clean” my beauty products are. It’s called the Think Dirty app, and you can look up all kinds of beauty products or even scan their bar codes while out shopping to see how “clean” the products truly are. They go into detail about all of the ingredients in the products and explain to you why certain items may be harmful. It has definitely taught me a lot about what to look for + what not to look for in my skincare and hair care products.
I hope y’all found something from this list that you want to try out! Let me know some of your fave beauty brands or products below! I would love to try them out and continue to add to this list throughout the year! Thanks for reading. 🙂
