5 Mineral-Based Facial Sunscreens You Should Try

Hellllo there! Today’s blog topic falls into one of my favorite categories–skin care! I am one of those people who will sit and read product reviews and watch YouTube videos for hours. (I know, I know.) So, I have rounded up today for you 5 of my most trusted mineral-based facial sunscreens! They are all different, but I love each of them for their own reasons. Sunscreen is arguably the most important step in your skincare routine each day, so why not have options? Side note: All of these sunscreens are mineral-based meaning they have no chemical filters in them. This is the type of SPF that I prefer for my skin after my research over the years. I hope you enjoy! To shop any of the items, simply click on each one in the photo or scroll through at the end of this post.

  1. Elta MD UV Replenish(SPF 44) – Best for wearing under makeup every day. I use BareMinerals original loose foundation on the daily (which has additional spf), and it buffs over this sunscreen beautifully! I love all of the skin benefits that comes along with this sunscreen as well. It is very moisturizing and needs to be blended in well. This is the only one on the list that can leave a very slight white cast, but it does not bother me at all.
  2. Paula’s Choice Essential Glow Moisturizer(SPF 30): Best for very dry skin in need of some glow. Like the name suggests, this leaves you with glowing, dewy skin. I love to put this on my chest as well to keep my skin looking healthy. Blends in the easiest of the group. No white cast.
  3. Elta MD UV Physical Tinted(SPF 41) – Best for skipping foundation all together. This is a thicker, tinted consistency, but it does not feel heavy. I love to layer liquid blush and concealer over this one for no makeup makeup days. No white cast.
  4. Paula’s Choice Super-Light Wrinkle Defense(SPF 30): Best for those who don’t like the feeling of anything on their face. This is the lightest-weight formula that I have tried. Since I have dry skin, this one is best for me in the dead of Summer when I’m planning on being by the pool/beach or breaking a sweat. Even my husband approves of this one, and he hates putting lotion on his face! No white cast.
  5. Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue(SPF30): Best for getting the most custom shade in a sunscreen. Complexion Rescue is technically a makeup product, but it offers so many skin benefits that it deserves to be on this list! This is such a unique product, and I’ve used it for years. The texture is light (it’s a gel-cream) and it comes in multiple shades. Their claim is that this will increase your skin’s hydration by 200% after one week. It definitely leaves your skin looking radiant. Of course, no white cast with this one.

Well y’all, this is my army of facial SPF’s. I hope that my brief write-up of each one was helpful! Let me know if you decide to try one this season!

Cheers,

Olivia

V-Day Gifts to Treat Yourself

I don’t know about y’all, but Jordan and I don’t really buy each other Valentine’s Day gifts. We typically like to cook a nice dinner at home or go out to one of our favorite restaurants. However, I DO love all of the adorable pink and red Valentine’s Day themed items in the stores. They bring so much joy to this sort of grey-feeling part of the year while we wait on Spring. I put together a list of items for you ladies to treat yourself to because you deserve it! Orrr you can send this post over to your man as a hint 😉 . Either way, these are really great items for all year round, not just Valentine’s Day. Simply click on each item in the photo above to shop.

PJ Set: This is the same PJ set that I raved about back during Christmas, and I still love it! It comes in so many options, as well as a long sleeved/pants option that I’ll link here.

Veja Sneakers: Y’all gave me such great feedback about Veja sneakers a couple weeks ago in my stories, and I am still waiting on a different color option of these sneakers to come back in stock. BUT how cute are these pink and red ones?? I can’t wait to get my hands on a pair.

Mini Waffle Maker: I picked up this adorable waffle maker from Target yesterday and we had breakfast for dinner. It was absolutely delicious–highly recommend. There are also so many ideas on how to use a mini waffle maker on Tik Tok like cooking cinnamon rolls in them. I’ll be buying cinnamon rolls and trying this ASAP.

Glossier YOU perfume: If you buy one thing from this whole list, let it be this. I really can’t describe this fragrance in words, but it is meant to smell different on every single person. It is perfect for every day, and just smells fresh, musky, and sweet all at the same time. It is such an unoffensive scent, and I just feel put together when I wear it. I even wear it when I don’t plan on leaving the house (which is most days if you’re new here lol).

Plumping Gloss: If you are looking for an extreme plumping gloss that stings your lips, this is not it. However, it does have a bit of a minty-fresh feeling that I love and the formula is so great. It feels very comfortable and moisturizing on the lips. I can’t believe this is only $7.99 at Target! I bought the shade champagne and it is the perfect color to wear on bare lips or over lip liner for a natural look.

Aerie Cotton Undies: Everyone knows that cotton undies are the best to wear everyday. I love Aerie’s line of cotton underwear. They are so comfortable, and I love how affordable they are. You can mix and match 8 pairs for only $32.

Gold Choker: I have had my eyes on this jewelry brand for a while! One of my favorite bloggers to follow raves about this jewelry that she wears everyday. She even showers and sleeps in it. It is water-resistant! This choker in particular is in my cart because I know it will layer with all my other gold jewelry, and I am absolutely loving that look right now. I’ll link the website here to check out the rest of their jewelry. If you use Madi’s code Madi25 , you’ll save $22 on this choker!

I hope y’all found something to treat yourself to! Thank you so much for reading, as always. <3

How to Look Chic in White Jeans During the Winter

I don’t like to give up white jeans in the Winter time– I believe there is a chic way to wear them all year round. My exact white jeans from Abercrombie are sold out, but hopefully this gives you an idea of what to do with the white jeans you already have in your closet. 🙂 Linking all of Abercrombie’s white jeans here. I highly recommend their “Curve Love” or “Mom Jean” options!

Here are some key tips that I take into account when creating an outfit with white jeans during this time of year:

  1. Add a white or off-white sweater for a chic, monotone base. A sweater with some texture or lines like this one will give the outfit depth.
  2. I love to add pumps to an outfit like this, but if it is colder where you are, you could opt for a sleek pair of booties like these.
  3. Layer on a tan or lighter colored coat to balance the outfit.
  4. Add pops of dark accessories like sunglasses and a black bag for contrast.
  5. Lastly, you can’t go wrong with stacking different types of gold jewelry to finish off your outfit. I especially love a classic gold watch with an outfit like this.

Let me know how y’all like to wear white jeans during the Winter, or if you are going to try it out after reading my blog post!

As always, thank you for reading! And, if you enjoyed this post, please consider checking out my @liketoknow.it profile where I post exclusive in-app content and everyday outfit ideas. You can search my name in the app ( oliviaccgreen ), and hit that follow button. 🙂

Favorite Products Discovered in 2020

Hey guys! Welcome back. 🙂 I know many of you are happy to kiss 2020 goodbye at this point, however, I wanted to highlight some really great finds from 2020 that I will for sure take into 2021 with me! I love reading “round up” blog posts like this that tie together stand out products. I always end up finding one or two items that I want to try myself from other people’s posts, so I hope you find something from my list that you want to try! Let’s get started:

*Click on any item to shop!

Abercrombie Curve Love Jeans: Y’all probably knew this would be top of the list. Jeans are SO hard to find the perfect fit, and Abercrombie really nailed it with this cut. The curve love jeans have an extra 2 inches around the hip and thigh area, and then they taper more in the waist which means your booty and thighs are more comfortable AND you have no waist gap. I have these in 3 pairs! They come in petite, regular, and tall!

Aerie Offline Goals Leggings: Big surprise, I also own three pairs of these. When I love something, I love it lol. These are a true athletic looking legging that you can totally wear casual as well. They have a good amount of hold without being uncomfortable (wearing them now as I type this) and they are great to work out in and feel secure. If you are into barre workouts, I think you would love these!

Aerie Real Free Padded Bralette: My most worn bra of 2020. It is so so comfortable, y’all. I could sleep in it. I have this one in two colors and it is my go to bra for anything. Running errands, chilling around the house, traveling. It is a great one. It is almost a hybrid between a regular bra and sports bra, however, I wouldn’t wear this one for an intense work out.

Chain Belt: This is such a fun find of 2020! It can be worn in so many different ways and just adds a little something unique to your outfit. I love how adjustable it is to get the exact fit that you want depending on what you’re layering it over. Very affordable piece too!

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Serum: 2020 was a year that I experimented with skincare, and I really love this serum! I put it on before my moisturizer or mix it in depending on what I’m feeling. It is super light weight and I love adding in hydration to my skin care.

Paula’s Choice Super Antioxidant Serum: I don’t think I’ve talked about this one with y’all yet! I usually like to use products for a long time before sharing about them, so that I know how they perform. This has been constant for me for the past 7 months or so– love this serum! It is packed with amazing ingredients. I apply this at night before my moisturizer and eye cream, and I have actually noticed a significant difference. My skin texture is so much better and it brought an overall evenness to my complexion. It also has a brightening effect. I will definitely repurchase!

Paula’s Choice Light Weight Sunscreen: I talked about this product over the Summer with y’all, but I wear it everyday. It is super light weight so anyone can wear this and not be bothered by it. I actually layer moisturizer underneath since I have dry skin. It acts as a primer for makeup for me and it even blurs my complexion a bit, so it’s also really great on its own. It has a slight tint so that it will not leave a white cast.

Hourglass Bronzer: Oh my goodness y’all. Why was this new to me in 2020?? It is the most gorgeous bronzer. I wear this even if I only put on the tinted sunscreen above and mascara. It is just so youthful and glowy without making you look glittery. I have it in two different shades: Luminous Bronze Light for Summer and Nude Bronze Light for Winter. I also sweep this in the crease before eyeshadow or by itself. It’s a pricey but very versatile product, so it is worth it in my opinion.

Briogeo Hair Mask: I go through a lot of hair masks, and this one is definitely worth mentioning for this year. I am almost done with my current one, and I will be purchasing another. It is super moisturizing without being super heavy, which is odd to me because I actually love the feeling of a really heavy hair mask. This one gives me the results that I want without being so thick. I do like to add it drops of pure argan oil to any hair mask that I use. This is the one that I use.

Ouai Hair Oil: Another stand out hair product that re-discovered this year. This is a super light weight oil that I put on my ends after blow drying. It smells amazing and adds shine without adding grease. I even reapply this in between washes when my hair gets dry.

Thanks y’all for reading! I hope that you have a happy New Year!

Cheers,

Olivia

2020 Summer Essentials

2020 Summer Essentials

Shop these items:

We are at the beach for the week, so I thought it would be a good time to share all of the Summer items I’ve purchased this year with the beach being on my mind 24/7. A lot of them are great prices, and all of them are excellent quality! Stay tuned for more beach content this week. I’ll be styling these items and posting more outfits on my Instagram page + linking them in the LikeToKnow.it app. Feel free to follow along over there if you aren’t already. Linking my LTK profile here.

Denim Shorts: I did NOT want to love these shorts as much as I do because of the price tag. They are the most expensive item on this list, as well as the most expensive denim shorts I’ve ever purchased.  What I love about them, is how flattering the fit is. They don’t hug your thighs or butt too tight at all, which is what I prefer. Most reviews say that these “run big,” however, I ordered my normal size and they are perfect. They are high wasted, so shirts tuck in nicely, and they also look really great with crop tops or swim suits.  I know I will continue to wear these into the Fall with booties and cardigans, so they are a great investment.

Straw Hat:  Another item that I have had my eye on for a solid two years, but continued to buy target hats instead (those are totally great as well, don’t get me wrong!).  However, this hat is amazing quality and you can order your correct size for a more custom fit (not a one size fits all). For someone who loves straw hats as much as I do, this one is the top on my list. And, I have a lot of straw hats y’all!

Pink Bikini Set:  Both the top and the bottom I linked are the same exact pink color, although they do not look like it online! I just want to note that I have never been disappointed with the quality of swimwear that Nordstrom has to offer.  I’m the type that doesn’t want to spend an arm and a leg on a swimsuit, but I am also crazy picky about the fit and quality.  I could write a whole blog post on swimsuits alone with how many swimsuits I’ve ordered and sent back this year, let me tell ya. I am done with trying to “get a deal” on the “fast-fashion” sites for swimsuits.  This brand has my stamp of approval for sure.

Snakeprint Bottoms:  Some of you may think I’m crazy for this, but these bottoms were too loose on my hips when they came in, so I actually took them to the tailor because I loved the shape, coverage, texture, etc that much! I wanted to make them work. These are amazing quality and thank the lord for some cute bottoms with actual booty coverage lol.  They come in plain black and pink as well.  I ordered a small (my normal size in swimwear),  and they definitely run big.

Makeup Organizer: I can’t believe I have just thrown all my makeup and brushes in a bag whenever I traveled before ordering this this year.  Game changer for sure. There’s plenty of room for your compacts, palettes, and brushes.

Linen Boyfriend Shirt: This shirt ended up being exactly what I had in mind when I ordered it. I love the look of a linen shirt at the beach. So classic and timeless. This one is a great price too!

Beach Wrap: Y’all need this easy beach wrap from Amazon! I love the pom poms and it comes in multiple colors.

Daily SPF: This layers perfectly under makeup or by itself. This formula is actually for oily skin, so I just make sure I moisturize with another moisturizer beforehand, and I’m good! I love that it is a mineral sunscreen that isn’t greasy and doesn’t break me out. I’m going to order the glowy one next, and I’ll let y’all know how I like that one!

Hair Mask: This hair mask is so hydrating. I use a hair mask every time I wash my hair in place of regular conditioner, so I often try out new ones. I love this one ( I have dry/thick hair).  It smells amazing and makes my hair so so soft.

IMG_7929

Bonus Items:

I also never go to the beach without packing this scrub. It helps to really take off all of the sunscreen at the end of the day. It is also really great at scrubbing away leftover spray tan! Smells so good too.

My two favorite sunscreens for the body linked here and here.

I am still a total fan of the Billie Razor too! It is all I use (I used to be addicted to a much more expensive razor).  I love that I don’t have to think about it, and I get razors sent to me every two months for only $9! You can customize how often you want new razor heads sent. I simply use Dove body wash to shave with, and it works perfectly.

This post is *not* sponsored. All items linked are products that I have purchased with my own money and I genuinely use. 🙂 I hope that this post was helpful for those of you who have been on the search for some of these staples! Let me know something that you have purchased this year for Summer that you love. I’d love to hear from ya!

Olivia

Why You Need an Electric Toothbrush

Why You Need an Electric Toothbrush

For years, I was so against electric toothbrushes. I doubted their ability to clean my teeth that much more than a manual toothbrush and honestly found them annoying to use, heavy, and noisy.  However, electric toothbrushes have come such a longggg way from what they used to be.  There are so many different kinds to choose from on the market, and it can be a little overwhelming.  I am so thorough when it comes to taking care of my teeth (floss, mouthwash, brush, and wear my retainer every night!), so I began to question if I could make my routine better.

IMG_6508

For those of you who have been reading my posts for a while, I partnered with Smile Brilliant to test our their teeth whitening system back in November, and absolutely loved my results. I’ll link that post here.  So, when they reached back out to me back in February asking what kind of toothbrush I currently used, I was slightly embarrassed to tell them I use a manual toothbrush.  They asked me if I wanted to try out their CariPro electric toothbrush, and my response was of course! Right, why not??

I have been using it now every single day for the past 4 months, and my teeth and gums are noticeably cleaner and healthier. I hate to say the typical line, “just got back from the dentist clean,” but that is honestly how my teeth feel whenever I brush with this toothbrush! If you have permanent retainers on the back of your teeth from having braces, this is a game changer for sure.  It cleans those hard to clean areas so much better than my manual toothbrush could have ever done.  I also love that there are multiple modes on the toothbrush including a sensitive option, which is the one I use most of the time for my sensitive teeth.  I have completely changed my opinion on electric toothbrushes, and I don’t think I could go back to a manual, not even for a weekend getaway to the beach. (You know you love something, when it goes in your travel bag too.) 😉

I am so excited to be partnering with Smile Brilliant again for a giveaway. One of you will receive a CariPro toothbrush, charger, and an extra toothbrush head ($120) value.  All you have to do is click the giveaway link below and enter in your email. I also have a discount code that you can use on anything on Smile Brillant’s website. Use code OLIVIACCGREEN20 for 20% off your entire order. Like I said earlier, I use their teeth whitening as well, and LOVE it!

5 Work From Home Essentials

5 Work From Home Essentials

I know many of us are working from home for the foreseeable future, so I thought I would write a quick blog post on some essentials that really make my work from home experience better! These are all items that I have loved and used for a long time.

Weighted Blanket: Jordan got me this blanket for Christmas, and I have been in love with it.  If you stress out easily or are simply always cold, this throw blanket is so great! It gives you the perfect amount of pressure and eases anxiety. Perfect to throw over your lap while you work from home.

Blue Light Glasses: I know that most of us stare at screens for a significant chunk of the day. Jordan and I have really been loving these blue light glasses for work, scrolling our cellphones, and playing video games.  They come in a pack of two, so you can share with your significant other. ☺️

C-Shaped Computer Table: This is something that I have been using for years now, actually using it as I type out this blog post–a total game changer. (Linking a similar version of the one I have had for years). It allows you to use your computer comfortably while sitting on the couch, recliner, or wherever! Also, it’s a pretty cute addition to your living room. Jordan and I are constantly moving this around the house.  It can scoot right out of the way because of the way it is shaped. Linking it here.

The Best Coffee on Amazon Prime: Coffee is of course necessary during the work day, and in order to keep social distancing in effect, you should be avoiding coffee shops at the moment! We have probably ordered 10 bags of this coffee over the past year–We are hooked. Linking the whole bean option (the one we buy for our espresso machine) and the ground coffee option.

“The One Thing” by Gary Keller: A book beneficial for your mindset in your personal and business life! I’m reading it this week as a reminder of what is most important to me in my personal and business goals. There is also and audiobook option, and a podcast series.

BONUS: Since most of us are staying around the house, I thought I’d also share an app that I really have been loving that has several different brain training activities that you can personalize to your own liking. There are several different subjects for sharpening writing, reading, speaking, and math skills. It’s educational and a great distraction from all of the chaos going on right now.  I’ll link it here in case you are interested in checking it out. (Not sponsored.) I discovered this app on my own. 🙂

Let me know below what is helping you get through this ongoing work from home quarantine! I would love to hear from y’all!

A Day in Midtown East + Gift Ideas

A Day in Midtown East + Gift Ideas

Hey y’all! Last week, I had the pleasure of exploring Raleigh’s newest shopping center, Midtown East, and I wanted to tell you about the places we went while we were there! Thank you, Regency Centers for having me! First of all, the shopping center is so gorgeous! It is all decorated for Christmas right now, so it is the perfect time to go check it out! They have so many wonderful businesses, shops, wall murals, and more to come.

We started out our day at DryBar, and I was treated to my very first blowout! I’m not going to lie, I’ve been pretty skeptical of this place (I didn’t want to love it 🙈), and I’m so glad I finally tried it out! It is so relaxing, and the ladies in there are incredibly friendly. You feel right at ease the entire time you’re there.  You can choose from their look book of what style blowout you want, and sip on a complementary mimosa while you are there! And, of course, I was obsessed with my hair when I left.  I have seen so many others who love DryBar and rave about it–I think a gift card for a blowout would be such a great gift for someone on your list, or one of their wonderful gift sets! I’ll link them here. Also, how cool is it that you have the chance of getting a free piece of jewelry from Kendra Scott when you book your blowout at DryBar?!

Our next stop was Waxing the City. First of all, I love how clean this place is! They are truly obsessed with cleanliness there.  They have a team of trained aestheticians who are waxing experts. They also have wonderful gift sets like these sugar scrubs that smell amazing! Linking their products that they offer here. New clients receive 50% off your first wax! That’s an awesome deal.

IMG_5844

From there, we went on to Beauty Co. They are Raleigh’s first ever micro-treatment beauty bar offering non-surgical restoration, enhancements, and state of the art skincare treatments.  Y’all, if you didn’t see my stories from last Thursday, they have this AMAZING relaxation room stocked with coffee, tea, and snacks that you can sit in while you wait to get your treatments.  I could honestly sit in there all day. They also have really great skincare goodies and more that make great gifts!

IMG_2288.png

We checked out Club Pilates as well. You can book your first Intro Class for FREE! Their studio is so beautiful, and they also have wonderful workout gear for sale.  I loved this set from their little shop below:

Midtown also has a New Balance store, which has allll your athletic shoes and gear needs covered! Here is a pic of my fav shoes in the store as well as this adorable sweatshirt that matches.  Would make an awesome gift!  Everyone appreciates a great athleisure outfit.

We ate lunch at Cava, and it was so dang good!  They are a Mediterranean restaurant where you can order salads, rice bowls, hummus ,and more! I also just learned that their spreads are sold at Whole Foods as well! They truly have something there for everyone to eat.  Make sure you try the Beet Lemonade–It’s delicious!

I’m sure if you live anywhere close to Raleigh, you’ve heard of the new Wegman’s as well. Boy oh boy was I not prepared for Wegman’s lol.  It’s basically a huge supermarket with a wonderful selection of wine, fresh prepared foods, fresh meats and cheeses, full bakery, full coffee shop, burger bar etc.  You could basically spend all day in there, but, since we only had an hour, we stuck to tasting some wine, grabbing a coffee, and walking around a bit.  I also left with some chocolate chip cookies that were wonderful. I totally rate all grocery stores on their bakeries, and Wegman’s totally wins in that category!  Definitely check if out if you haven’t already!

And lastly, I want to spotlight MyEyeDr! They have a beautiful space in Midtown East.  If you are interested in prescription eye glasses or sunglasses, definitely check them out! They also do eye exams (I go to the Cary location to get my eyes checked each year).  They were so kind to give away a pair of sunglasses with this blog post, so be sure to check out my instagram post for details!

I hope that this post brought you some new knowledge of Midtown East in Raleigh and possibly sparked some ideas for gifts this season! Let me know if you check out this shopping center! I would love to hear your thoughts. ☺️

Olivia
